Why does anesthetic taste metallic?

Today, at 5 minutes past the 10th hour of the morning, my body was wheeled out of a surgery room for the second time of my life... resulting in a big-fat-burrito-like arm. And I got some really cool pain killing drugs to go with it.

Just for clarity, I had a lipoma from my right palm removed.

li·po·ma
Pronunciation: lI-'pO-m&, li-
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -mas or li·po·ma·ta /-m&-t&/
Etymology: New Latin
: a tumor of fatty tissue
- li·po·ma·tous /-m&-t&s/ adjective

My doctor explained it was good that I had it removed now because it was ready to impinge on my carpal tunnel. If it had gotten that far, it would have been interfering with the function of my wrist, and my recovery would have been 5x longer.

Yay me.

Back to sleep before my doctor catches me typing. Eep.
