I am a Spiraling Consumer

I have done the unthinkable.

I have done what I swore I would not.

By my estimates, though, it was the far better choice of those available.

On June 1st 2004, I was intent on picking up my ailing car, paying my $50 for my diagnostic to VW, and relocating it to a less expensive establishment. Sadly, those less expensive establishments all estimated that I would only save $400 by taking my Jetta to them.

I informed my manager that I would be taking a long lunch, and he said, "Irena, why don't you just drive your crap car into an Acura dealership and trade it in?"

*insert imaginary lightbulb here*

I did just that (the whole boss lead up is a great excuse as for why I never actually returned to work that day).

I am now a proud leasor of a 2004 Acura TSX 6M in Satin Silver with Ebony Leather interior.

This is, of course, with being underwater on my lease and having just purchased some spiffy new speakers that I refuse to get rid of.

But damnit, I didn't make an idiot move of a 60 month lease or a 72 month finance period. I'm only stuck for another 48 months, at only $60 more than I was paying a month. Ultimately, I think it went well (after 4 hours of negotiation, it sure as hell should have).

And to top it all off.. I have a factory bumper to bumper (including roadside assistance!) that will last me to the end of that lease. No, the clutch is not included for the entirety of that, but it sure as hell won't fail on me before 48,000 miles.

VW be damned.

Nice Car. All that matters is that you are happy. So what if you are a spiraling consumer... :). Thank you for doing your part to help the economy!
